报告摘要：
This talk explains the benefits of low-discrepancy point samples compared to regular and random sampling, and then considers the problem of generating low discrepancy point samples on arbitrary surfaces, such as mesh surfaces. It also considers how to locally control the density of the samples. Finally, it discusses potential applications of the technique.
嘉宾简介：
Ralph Martin是英国Cardiff大学教授，Computer Aided Design等六个国际刊物的编委。他于1983获得剑桥大学博士学位，是当今CAD领域国际上的著名科学家。Ralph Martin担任曲面造造型领域的重要会议Mathematics of Surface的主席，并曾担任在美国MIT和英国Cardiff召开的ACM Solid and Physical Modeling 2005，2006国际会议的主席。Ralph Martin是反向工程(Reverse Engineering)的权威，他和匈牙利的T Varady教授解决了反向工程中的一些基本问题，被公认为开创了该研究领域。他们的经典论文被SCI引用七百多次。Martin教授目前主要从事媒体计算领域的研究，近三年在ACM SIGGRAPH等国际重要期刊发表论文20余篇。
