嘉宾介绍：
Benny Ding Leong
Assistant Professor
Leader, Asian Lifestyle Research & Design Lab
School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Founder, Lifestyle Design Research Network of China (LSDER-China)
Mr. Leongpracticed industrial design in Japan, the Netherlands, Italy and Hong Kong after his graduation from the Hong Kong Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art, London in the late 80’s and early 90’s respectively. He worked for and with companies such as JVC (Japan), Philips (the Netherlands), Hewlett Packard (France), Alessi (Italy) and Eckart+Barski (Germany), Cuckoo (Korea), Suzuki (China), Huawei (China) on various pioneer projects.
His design works within projects like ‘Things East-West’, ‘E-light’, ‘Vision of the Future’ and Philips-Alessi kitchen range has won variousdesign awards and recognitions. These designs had been exhibited and publicized worldwide in Europe, the USA andAsia. In particular the Philips-Alessi coffee maker is now a permanent collection at The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, theMuseum of Modern Art (MOMA) in the USA, and the Groningen Museum in the Netherlands.
Leong joined the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1995, and has been conducting researches related to Chinese Culture and Design for Sustainability (DfS), MaterialLifestyles studies and User-Centred Design.
Leong is the Advisor of the User Experience Design Centre of Huawei Device Co. Ltd., China; founder of Lifestyle Design Research Network of China (LSDER-China), founding member of the China Network on Design for Social Innovation & Sustainability (DESIS-China); Technical Advisor of Sustainable Consumption Research Exchange (SCORE) program and an evaluator of the LeNs (Learning Network of Sustainability) program. Leong is the key author of the first DfS book in China entitled “Design Vision: The Sustainable Way of Living in China, and has been promoting strategic design and cultural sustainable design via contributing articles to various publications such as Design Issues (US), Asian Design Journal (Korea), Zhuangshi (China), System Innovation for Sustainability (UK), Better by Design (Hong Kong), etc.
